on-stage monitors for vocals

    Have any of you used this thingy for monitoring?

    Any powered budget alternatives you'd recommend for jazz vocal? Portability and clarity are most important, but we're no audiophiles - the budget monitors we use at home are good enough in terms of sound quality, but I obviously wouldn't dare to take them to a gig :)

    they look nice, small and handy.
    a bit pricey I'd have thought. Could do better but probably much bigger.

    Here's a thing... If you already have a PA and you aren't working too loud. Why don't you try performing with the PA behind the Band. I did it last week with a vocal trio and it worked really well. It sounded much more natural what with the precedence effect an all that. Took a bit of convincing but it worked out great.

    I've seen loads of american acts do it with monitors facing out. It works remarkably well.

    Ah, the plucky world of stage monitoring. If it's a relatively quiet(ish) jazz ensemble you may get away with an 8" or a 10" box, but if you expect to hit anything close to moderate rock band levels then a 12" is best.

    Check out RCF Art 310 and HK Audio Premium Pro 10X for nice little 10" boxes.
