Anyone got any recommendations for a good fast SATA hard drive for a Dell laptop. Preferably 7200RPM but not to hard on the battery.

Also have they released SSD's for laptops yet ??

There are plenty of SSDs for laptops. Actually most SSD drives are 2.5" (laptop) form-factor anyway.

In terms of regular platter drives, TomsHardware has some benches:

Personally I prefer WD drives, and the WD3200BEKT offers good performance/price at the moment, that'd be high on my list. However, you should note that larger capacity 5400rpm drives perform very well (on account of higher density=faster) so don't necessarily be dead-set on a 7200rpm drive.
