    Hey guys...

My girlfriend and my sister both enjoy their coffee, but are pretty much just into your bog standard Starbucks Americana jazz...

I'm not a coffee drinker myself but I'm thinking some nice beans might be a decent stocking filler.

    Any suggestions??

If they just buy coffee in Starbucks then don't get anything too roasted as it'll probably taste bitter.

Maybe the Diaz beans from www.coffeebeans.ie/buy-coffee-now-page.html ?
Of course you can get beans in a lot of coffee shops/cafées nowadays too.

A 3 cup Bialetti stovetop coffee maker is about 25 euro, you'd pick up a cheap grinder for about 20 euro and then have a look on hasbean.co.uk for fantastic beans. You'll get 250g of beans for about a fiver. Anyway, you'd have a complete basic setup for less than 50 euro (sorry I know that's a bit off topic but seriously the hasbean website is the place to go for beans IMO)

No that's very helpful - I wasn't really sure what sort of paraphenalia you'd need so this is good.

    Thanks a lot.

An aeropress and a hasbean subscription where you get a different coffee delivered each week gets my vote.

    Sounds like a great idea...

Any idea where I'd get an aeropress at a decent price?

Hasbean normally have them, if they're not listed drop him a mail. Think I picked one up from Pennine Tea and Coffee last time hasbean was out of stock. I keep one in the office and another in the boot and have bought several as gifts.

(maybe I was in the money :) )

Brilliant - I'll have a look there so because I couldn't see them on hasbeen...

Thanks a lot for all your help tonight both here and on other threads...

    good luck with the purchase.

coffee angel also has a good range of hario equipment on sale at their takeaway coffee stands on the quays in dublin, including hand grinders - was there yesterday getting a very good americano! I use their 1 cup drip filter at work and a chemex at home - check out warafs chemex for sale in his signature on this thread also.

Yeah I had a look at that alright - tbh I don't really know what it is!

Sorry guys I'm totally clueless with all this lark.

I've been looking at the aeropress in the last while and it looks like that's pretty much all you need in one piece of equipment whereas with the chemex like the one waraf's selling I'm not sure if you'd need more stuff as well?

EDIT: I'm actually thinking now it looks like I need to buy a separate grinder in any case - is that correct?

    Hey guys.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I just want to get confirmation from the experts before I make a purchase!

I'm gonna buy my sister an Aeropress machine and some beans from hasbean.

I just need to know if the Aeropress has everything she'll need to brew herself a nice cup of coffee on Xmas day or do I need to make a few other purchases?
    Grinder, filters etc?

    Your help is appreciated greatly.

aeropress comes with filters (I wouldn't call the aeropress a machine by the way, a device perhaps).

If you are buying beans, she will need a grinder, yes.
