Comes up every budget time, someone knows someone who says classic exemptions are being cancelled.

I'll wait and see before panicking.

Yeah I reckon someone is scaremongering. Though now I'm paying motor tax anyway for my '83 so you lot should feel the pain too! ;)

I just don't think there's enough cash to be made bythe government upsetting this particular hornets nest.

"in march next year a spannish company are taking over the n c t and they are taking over the customs end of things also from the current agency.
The 24 hrs to change a car over will be waivered you will have 7 days now but the vehicle must be road worthy and pass a pre-test or they wont allow it to be registered. The current VRT price of 50 is to increase to 150 euro .
And the knife in the wound is the road tax for all engine size is going from 48 euro to 350 euro.
    "

Thats the cock I read on another forum, as always.. I hope its cock!

Im pretty sure it mostly is...
The tax will go up a few euro as it always does, maybe they will increase the VRT,as 50euro is a very good deal being honest about it,but that will be it.
It wouldnt be fair to increase the road tax,as most cars are not used on a daily basis,if it was, many cars would be parked up and left idle. The cheap road tax is what makes this hobby viable and accessible to people.

"Increasing road tax from 48 to 350 euro",so to tax a 1979 fiesta would be more expensive than a 1.4 litre car younger than 30 years...its obvious thats being made up:p
