Poor SD on Panasonic G10??

My head is wrecked!! I had just decided to but a 42" plasma instead of agonising over which 37" LCD based on a deal and good review of the panasonic 42" G10

    But there's always a catch...

I've heard that Full HD Tv's struggle with SD image, and while I'll have some HD options majority of my watching will be SD

I'm getting a Sky HD box so will this help address / manage SD concerns? or am I better getting a HD Ready Tv (37 X10) as these manage SD better with less scaling requirement..

I'm also worried that LCd are better in bright rooms than plasma's??

Any one with experience of the panny G10 and SD viewing i'd really appreciate feedback

    Thanks

Thanks Dr. Nick... was on there last night. and got lots of feedback
I'm even more confused now though!

It seems if you mainly watch SD go for a HD ready tv and if you mainly watch HD , blu ray, games etc go for full HD

I'm just a bit confused now as regards what HD channels are available on sky ireland - free to air BBC is available. Thinking of 6 nations and general tv watching. dont see myself watching the sky hd channels bar sky sports which i'll only have for a month or two

Howlett, why not go to a shop that stocks the G10 and see what the SD is like for yourself!

A few people seem to make noise that its not very good but there are many who think its fine and i would imagine at the right viewing distance it would be fine for SD

So how is the SD picture looking then?
Thinking of getting a G10 or V10 myself and was havin the same query in my head. Even though I've a freesat hd box, most of my viewing would be in SD.
There's just too much stuff to be taken into consideration when buying a new tv. Size, manufacturer, HD ready, full HD, plasma, lcd, led, hertz etc, etc etc!

I have the G10 and I won't lie to you. The SD picture was better in my opinion on my old HD ready LCD on some channels. A lot of that may lie in the fact that the new TV is 10" bigger but it still is a slight negative for me. HD pictures can be jawdropping on this TV and I am happy to put up with any slight SD deficiency for that reason. It is only noticable on poor quality feeds in any case (low bandwidth sky channels).

I have a 50inch G10 and have to say that the SD is really very impressive. For some reason RTE1 and 2 are especially good (through SKY HD box). I have seen the same setup but through a 42 inch Sony and it looked absolutely awful. It takes a while for the plasma to settle down but once it does its simply stunning in both SD and HD.
