Commenting on the new initiative, Sean Smith, Communications Manager, Transport 21 Project Office said:
“Dublin City is well worth a visit and Dublin City Council wants to make it as easy as possible for people to spend some time in Dublin this November and December. That’s why we are introducing the Dublin City Free Christmas Parking Scheme. We want to encourage people to come into the city and to see for themselves what Dublin has to offer, and that is why we are making 1,380 parking spaces available free of charge right at the heart of Dublin City.

“Dublin has never been more accessible. The new Beckett Bridge and the Luas Red Line extension will open soon and the City Centre Fare being offered by Dublin Bus is making it easier and cheaper to move around the city centre. The Dublin City Free Christmas Parking Scheme is another good reason to come into Dublin before Christmas and explore the city.”

    * Only buses, taxis and cyclists will be able to travel through College Green from 7am to 10am Monday to Friday
    * At all other times all traffic will be able to travel through College Green

Dublin City Council has today reminded all Dubliners that from tomorrow, Wednesday 18th November, there will be a change in the operating hours of the College Green Bus Corridor until mid-January 2010.

At present, the College Green Bus Corridor is in operation from 7am to 10am, and from 4pm to 7pm, Monday to Friday. From Wednesday November 18th to Friday January 15th the College Green Bus Corridor will only be in operation during the morning peak traffic period (7am to 10am) and will be suspended for the evening peak traffic period (4pm to 7pm).

    This means that

    * At all other times all traffic will be able to pass through College Green without restriction. The College Green Bus Corridor will not operate in the evenings
    * As has always been the case, all traffic can continue to travel through College Green without restriction every weekend.

Brendan O'Brien, Head of Technical Services, DCC Traffic Division, commented:

"Dublin is open this Winter - for business and pleasure, shopping and leisure. Dublin City Council recently decided to change the operating hours of the College Green bus Corridor for the Christmas period, and today we are asking all dubliners to familiarise themselves with the new arrangements.

"Dublin City is well worth a visit - for the lights, festive atmosphere, fun, value and excitement of the season. Dublin has never been more accessible, and the city has a unique offering for every member if the family - from the youngest to the oldest and everyone in between"

Galway’s bus companies have all issued Christmas / New Year timetables, showing their services over the next two weeks.

www.GalwayTransport.info/christmas2009 has a handy overview showing the public transport services available each day over the period, as well as direct links to the Christmas / New Year bus timetable on each company’s website.

Where are you asking about? Galway city/region has a mix of normal Monday services, limited services or no service - depending on what company you're interested in.

Is it 2 euros per Person or 2 euros per car to use this service?

Monday's a "bank holiday" but not a public holiday - is that correct?. Is it only public holidays that Dub Bus operate a Sunday service?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78,577 ✭✭✭✭Victor

No, the Monday is the public holiday for the 26th as it falls on the weekend.

The banks are probably taking extra days.

So Monday's a public holiday? Doesn't that usually mean Sunday bus service with DB ?
