BMW has sold its F1 team back to Peter Sauber.

A good bit of news. The whole Qadbak thing sounded a bit dodgy. I wonder if this will result in Heidfeld staying put, rather than going to Mercedes...

Good to hear that, hope the FIA support the move and do what they can to make it happen as I think its important to keep a team that have been in the sport for the last two decades.

If there was a bit of money made thats fair enough, but can't imagine it was anything like what Brawn might have got

Brilliant for the sport, it is very worrying seeing the manufacturers pulling out but so long as Sauber and people like him are in the sport it will be better. Would love to see Flavio get a team back WHEN the insane life ban is lifted! Would say the same about Eddie if I thought he ever would.

Yay, Sauber Ferrari back again, Why the **** didn't BMW do that in the first place, then Sauber would have a guaranteed slot for 2010.
Hopefully this means they know they will be given Toyota's place, although they have apparently sold their team too so it could get interesting.
Maybe with qadbak not involved Williams and Campos will not block them and let them enter as an extra teem if they don't get Toyota's place.

Just been confirmed that they've been given the final slot.

    Great news.

Plus strong expectation that Prodrive are about to buy a majority stake in Renault.

A new independents era is dawning and I think this makes F1's future more secure than ever.

Good to hear they have their entry. I like to see more independent teams but does seem a pity to lose the extra engine designs of bmw, toyota, honda. But I guess you can have it both ways.

I can't remember where I read it but apparently, there's talk that they will use Ferrari engines with Fisichella getting a race seat.

Surely Christian Klien will get the other drive with Heidfeld heading off to Mercedes?

Apparently Volkswagen are looking at engine supplying in a couple of years

They already do half the engines for Formula 3 at the moment so they have a little experience in race engines, could be one to watch out for seeing as BMW and Mercedes almost always produced great engines..

Edit: just rememberd lambourghini is part of vag maybe a possible return?
