This was recorded in my shed - it's recorded, mixed and produced by myself and I think it's almost ready for mastering. From January we (macrogrizzly) are releasing a single a month so I have to get my head around doing decent recordings quickly in a home studio environment.

Please have a listen and if you want to comment, please do. The track is called Roam

    Hey Hunted,

Disclaimer: This is all my own opinion, you might not well agree!!

Just listening to the mix there, you might wanna bring the vocals up front a bit more unless you are going for the pink floyd angle. Maybe think about adding a few more low low mids and tuning the vox a little.

Other than that, nice job in the shed!!

thanks for the reply - therein lies my problem though .... Im kinda trying to guess what the mastering process is going to do to it. I was hoping that keeping the bass end down a bit and the high end up a bit that the compression will boost the bass and reduce the high end .... but I dont know. I might make a few mixes, get them all mastered and see which one comes out the better. Everything was recorded on a mac mini, via an edirol FA 101 in an untreated shed. Not the best place for a recording but feck it - its the best I can afford at present.

I wouldn't worry too much about the mastering process. Just make it as good as you can to your taste.

    i like it

i think you need to master buss compress it a bit of the acoustic , and put more punch in the drums ,

but i like it , good job

I think it's all finished up. These will be 'released' (whatever that means these days) at our web gig on January 16th. Theres six versions in total, but here's two we have online:

    Roam

    Roam - Electro Edit

Fingers crossed they don't just sound absolute sh!te outside the four walls of this very non studio-ish shed.

i think Roam non elector suffers from too much reverb , on vocals and guitars

overll warmth seems to be lacking as well .

but its a good tune and vibe.

I do agree there is a tad a lot of reverb. too late now though! Still, feck it. We'll imagine its the 50's
