Either the bike is way too big or the seat post needs adjusting!

But seriously, well done on it, i'm sure it's nice to see a project like that through!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭fixie

i think i would to but you wouldnt have tax or insurance on the bike:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,565 ✭✭✭thebouldwhacker

I like it, tbh I like that the wheels are not matching... I'd leave as is, maybe the black seatpost but other than that I like it a lot. Well done:cool:

    *edit*
Did you strip and paint at home or shop it out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭fixie

    @ alfalad
im a bit weird cause i find it comfortable when the saddle and stem are level!
so yeah on paper ehe bikes probably to big but i like the way it feels

are they riser bars on it?

sweet build, also wonering if you painted it yourself?

tallaght powder coating did the paint.they had some problems because of the bike been rusted and a bit corroded in places, also air bubbles kept on getting trapped on the ridge at the lugs.but after the 5th time they stripped and painted it it turned out great!!
and there just some old bars i cut off another bike and they actually slope downwards.was just out on the bike trying it out and that front tyre is really noisey so its goin and theres also a sort of ticking noise from the rear cog???maybe chain line or rear wheel isnt exactly straight??

    thanks for the comments

thanks for that link to my previous thread

that highlights one of my many "stupid mistakes" that i made while building the bike!but i learn from each one, just like i learned not to turn the bike upside down when the seatpost is in losely:D and i definity learned my lesson after searching for the thing for hours!!!!!!

Well done, always good to see people getting into the building.
Colour scheme isnt particularly my cup of tea but each to their own.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,256 ✭✭✭c0rk3r

    Hurling, i should of known.

The more I look at it the more I like it. The only thing id do differently is change the saddle colour to match the crank arm, stem, fork although im sure doing this is a difficult task.

Good job, i may build one myself.

    Hi Fixie,
Looks good. I like the flat bar look, might change my drops at some stage. Didn't think of getting accessories like Chainwheel, Cranks, stem etc painted on mine. Nice job ! Just thinking, I might have a blue Rolls saddle around somewhere if I didn't bin it. They're not the most comfortable - fairly firm. If you're interested let me know and I'll see if it's still in the garage somewhere.

lovely job on the bike, well done!!!:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭fixie

    hi lastgasp
that would be brilliant if you could find the saddle!! i couldnt find one online.and a plank of wood would be more comfortable than the saddle i have now!!i only cycled it for the first decent distance today!
i like the way your conversion turned out ! would love to see it with a set of white wheels on it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭fixie

any luck with finding the saddle Lastgasp????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

I think Rolls are a bit like Brooks, you either love it or hate it. Several pros swore by Rolls although they seem to have moved on to more modern saddles from San Marco in recent years.

    still it would look good!
and im not joking, anything would be more comfortable than the saddle i have now!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

Sure, I am saying this from the perspective though that it may well be the most comfortable saddle you might ever own... Brooks are also "firm" to say the least but they are the saddle that suit me best and I have four of them. Saddles are very personal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭fixie

    ok thanks blorg
sure if lastgasp finds it il use it for a few days to see if i like it.

see thats the thing about saddles i found a powder blue one but it was €40 and i didnt want to waste the money on a saddle that i mightent even like!
ah well sure its the same for everyone i suppose

Only problem i can see with that bike of yours is that it makes it very easy to spot you taking the noses off pedestrians when you're breaking red lights.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 210 ✭✭fixie

    me brake red lights!
    never:rolleyes:

Very nice job fixie, how much did it cost to do or is that a vulgar question?

Bit of design advice for you if you're interested.

That colour scheme on the car works well. On your bike, it doesn't at all. The reasons is that the baby blue is the main colour and the orange stripe is merely a highlight colour, taking up less than 10% of the body area. I think for that colour scheme to work you need to reverse the colours, and use the orange sparingly.

your opion p but i aint goin and repainting the bike cause of one persons opinion! i love it and people compliment while im WAITING at lights or locking it up. appreciate your opinion though
brianthebard, i never really added it up but around 300,but im getting a b43 built for the rear and always on the lookout for small bits and bobs

Hi Fixie, Sorry, I didn't reply earlier. I had a quick look in the garage and didn't see that saddle yet. It's a tip though with stuff all over the place so it could be buried somewhere. I'll have a proper look when I have a chance and let you know if it turns up.

    thanks LastGasp
sure no rush, the bike is hanging up now cause the wheels are on my fuji track now but should have new wheels for it before christmas
