Anyone have any dealings with eircom, having a nightmare trying to get phone line/broadband in, the whole process seems to be dragged out. I am due to open my retail outlet on wednesday have the shop almost kitted out and stocked all I am waiting on is eircom. I cannot run the till system without broadband I have been waiting three weeks for eircom to come out and they now tell me once I have the phone number it will take another ten days to get broadband this is highly frutrating I will have a shop fully fitted and ready to go and will have to hold of opening until eircom get the finger out, there is no reasoning with them and I seem to be given different information everytime I call the latest is that if when there technician comes out I will have to get my own electrician in to fit the line, they are driving me nuts

Do you need to have a phone line? could you use a wireless solution instead even just temporarily?

What line are you ringing to ask about the line? The business line @ 1800 24 25 08?
7 - How long does it take to get my line connected? If your business previously had a phone line, we may be in a position to have your new line connected within 1 working day. If your business does not have a working telephone line, standard installation is within 10 working days of placing your order.

By till system, I'm guessing it's a visa/mastercard/laser swipe system, so I'm guessing not.

How new is the building that the shop is in?
    • If old, have you checked was there ever a line anywhere in the store? If yes, check would getting it reactivated be quicker?
    • If new, check other shops, and see how long it took them to get their line in. Once you are not in direct competition with them, they may see your shop as a way to get more business, and tell you what route they took to get their phone line.
Are you based next to a main road, in a village, in a rural setting, or what?

Maybe contact www.enterprise-ireland.com (01-727 2000) and see if they have any hints on what to do to get the line installed?
