To Prestige or not to Prestige

That is the question. I'm not even lv 50 yet, let alone 70, but plenty of people on boards are heading in that direction. So, what will it be for you: Prestige or not? Do the extra classes and titles/emblems do it for you??

I think I will once, that's about it though!

Nah its just an e-penis waving exercise imo.
I will stay at 70 and work on all unlocks for all weapons.
Having all weapons and unlocks is far more interesting than bling bling titles and emblems to me.

+1 on the above, I prestiged up about 5 or 6 levels in COD4 before stopping and working on the weapons, headshots and trying be a better player, I voted for not sure, but I am swaying towards just getting to lvl 70 and just work on the weapons about 90% sure I will do this.

Prestiging kind of forces you to become a better player though, as you start off with less powerful tools.

    I'd tend to agree

Didn't do it in CoD4 so wont do it in this.

There are enough custom slots as it is and the unlocks in this game are much more of an advantage then they were in CoD4,

Not really in CoD4, I think they got the balance much better in that game.

In this game, no doubt the perk unlocks are nearly a necessity to be competitive

    EH.
I dunno. I don't want to per se. But then I like the idea of having a few extra classes to choose from. Plus I do think it is good practice and makes u better to have to play without all the fancy toys for a time. I know on WaW I'd have the fanciest gun going and some 7th+ level prestiger takes me out with a pointy stick from the other side of the map

I think even the bog standard default weapons you start at level 1 with in MW2 or better then in MW1 and that gives you a better advantage. I think its better in MW2 the way you get more of a feeling of reward by unlocking perks, makes it fairer IMO.

But after I reach lvl 70 I highly doubt i'll take the plunge and prestige, each to there own though.

'scuse the ignorance but what is prestige?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,510 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

Prestige is you rank upto level 70...hit prestige and start all over again from level 1. Gives you extra custom classes and fancy emblems...

Normally wouldn't be bother but thanks to the crap that is IW I have to play on both normal and hardcore servers.
So example..my sniper rifle class is WA2000 with silencer and heartbeat sensor for hardcore mode with Cold blood perk.
However in normal mode only headshots are one shot kills thus I need 2 sniper classes.
Will definitely prestige at least 1 and see how it goes after that.

Yeah might do the same and see how long it takes me to hit level 70 again.

I reached level 70 last week . Went prestige on the last one , not gonna bother this time

I think I will, just for a couple extra custom slots. Gonna be hard losing all the guns, attachments and perks though.

I'm only level 54 but I'll definitely be prestiging. Not sure for how many times but at least once or twice anyway.

I did the same in COD4, I found it was really interesting to keep re-starting with a clean slate in terms of weapons/attachments etc. Also I used to get accustomed to new weapons each time I prestiged (ie. Getting red tiger on a certain sniper rifle and then going for red tiger in a different sniper rifle next prestige time around)

I'm undecided at the moment. I'm at level 62 so i'm not too far away (although my xbox broke so i wont be playing MW2 until i get a replacement:(). I never had the opportunity on COD4 because i used three different xbox live profiles and was never really that good

Not going to.Not worth it for just a extra custom class or whatever you get.Is there any kind of gold weapons or anything for finishing all the weapon challanges

Will prob prestige but not straight away, will work on the K : D ratio and unlocks first, would like to unlock everything for all guns.

I've seen 7 nukes set off by someone who's already prestiged once and is level 56 already i think.

He's the definition of awesome on mw2.

I wouldn't call them sad. Id be well into 3rd/4th prestige if I could play Cod whenever I wanted. There's always the hardcore ones. Prestiging once already isn't really that impressive.

Soby, you dressed your avatar like a pirate... and you paid for it (as did I)!!!

Are any of us really in a position to be labeling others as sad for something they enjoy?

Doubt I'll be prestiging up this year. Did it once last year and it was more of a pain. Because I think if you're going to prestige, you should prestige all the way upto the tenth level; and I really don't have the time for all that. I'd be happy to rank up to level 70 and max out all my guns, and all the challenges I can (apart from the prestige challenge obviously).

Worked hard to unlock the guns and attachments and just not really interested in doing it again.
