    Hi all,

I'm going to NY next week.

Half thinking of buying a PS3 Slim over there - will it work here?

As far as I remember games are region free aren't they?

All the info you need is in the stickies at the top of this forum.

American PS3 will work in Europe, it has dual voltage power supply.
Games are region-free but DLC is locked to the region of the origin of said game.
It will be locked to DVD & Blu-Ray Region 1 (US) and won't play Region 2 (PAL, Europe) discs unless they are region free.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread but I presume Region 1 Blu-rays will not play in a European PS3?

Not unless they are region free releases. That depends on the studio that releases them and copyright holders.

Not sure if thats a good idea...you might save a few quid against the dollar but if your PS3 has any problems or faults you will not be covered over here, meaning you have to go back to the original supplier or PS US.

    Risky idea

    Region 1 Blu-rays

No such things. Bluray regions are marked out as Region A, B and C.

This will show you what is region locked and what's not
