I first learned about him when we were hearing about the Mother and Child scheme in school.

You should read the biography of him, I think it's by John Cooney (?) not 100% on this. Words can't describe the feelings I have for him. The man was Ireland's equivalent to Hitler, Mussolini etc with regard to his own ego, self importance and abuse of power.
