Wind energy investments have increased over the years, as people understand the great advantages offered by the wind. Wind energy can be used cleanly and cheaply at the place of its consumption. Wind will blow as long as the sun shines. Caused by the uneven heating of the earth’s surface by sun, Wind power is formed by the conversion of wind kinetic energy into mechanical energy through the use of wind turbines.

One of the most commonly used technologies of harnessing wind energy is the wind turbine. With the help of turbines, wind energy is produced by converting wind’s kinetic energy into mechanical energy. When the wind flows over the airfoil shaped blades of the turbine, it causes them to turn. The rotating blades, which are connected to a drive shaft helps in turning an electric generator to produce electricity.

The reason for the fast growth in the wind energy investment opportunitiescan be attributed to the fact that almost 160 GW of capacity to be installed worldwide, which implies a growth rate of 21% per year. This indicates huge amount of growth potential in the wind energy sector. It is believed that the wind has so much energy in the atmosphere that it can run half of this world.
