Extra bicycle parking is being fitted to a number of Luas stops on the Red Line.

Usage will be reviewed over time and added to where demand is proven.

Please be wary of locking your bike to the wire railings. It damages the railings when they steal your bike.

Not really my concern if the bike is gone.

I don't get the Luas all that often, and the last time I cycled to a station, I was on a Brompton, so I just brought it on with me. But I think, where possible, I would lock about 50m or more from a Luas station, rather than using the rack at the station.

Perhaps in practice I would find this a bit of a chore, and I would prefer for the Luas management to get an accurate picture of how many cyclists use the Luas. But when I go to the cinema, I don't park right in front of the cinema, because it says: "This bike will be unattended for about two hours." Same with parking at the Luas, perhaps?

    Just a passing thought.

I had two bikes stolen from the same Luas station over the space of a month a few years ago.
Fool me once, shame on you.
    Fool me twice, goddammother****ingbastard

    as the saying goes.

:( This just brought up the memory of my bike being stolen from outside the cinema a couple of years back. *sniff*

    Learned my lesson though

I'd be more interested in seeing progress on this section of Government policy and the Luas:
    Bicycles and LUAS
We will provide for the carriage of bikes onLUAS when services are of a frequency and at a capacity that allows for it. i.e. when it is considered possible to carry bikes on carriages when they do not interfere with the capacity for pedestrians.

Anyway, here's the provision on parking at stations:
Cycling Parking at all PT Stations
We will audit every intercity, sub-urban rail, (future Metro), DART, LUAS and bus station to assess existing and potential cycling parking provision and will support the construction of suitable cycling parking facilities at each station. This will include cycle parking stations that may be guarded with staff, CCTV, swipe cards etc. and will be based upon best international practice.

We will ensure that at the planning design stage of all future PT projects, there is proper provision made for quality cycle parking facilities. The cycling parking design guidance produced at 7.1 above will include all the necessary technical advice on the design of such facilities at train stations.
