How do I get my built in video on my mac to work on adium so I can use video chat? The only way I can use it is on jabber but I dont use my gmail account and use it through my adium account which is hotmail.

I think Adium video chat has been on their todo list for a few years now and never got around to doing it. Skype or iChat is the lad for video chat.

Do others here find that Skype video chat is an absolute dog on the Mac though? It easily eats up 30-50% of both cores on my Core 2 Duo 2Ghz... the Windows client is nowhere near as inefficient... It really annoys me when a company does not keep the Mac version of their software in sync with the Windows version (Sling Player is another really annoying example).

QFT. I wish Skype would get off their arses and update the Mac client. They're probably putting more resources into the iPhone app, which is of limited use IMO.

yeah. skype on the mac basically eats up 1 hour of battery as it starts, 2ndly it eats up the whole cpu, which on an air i dont have too much of resulting in loud fans.

for the iphone one, if they did anything good with it id be surprised. nearly 1 year since 3.0 is out and still no bluetooth support.

You can just sign into meebo.com to use video chat with the various services when needed.

mercury isn't bad. can be a bit buggy and there are a few known problems, mostly to do with showing up offlne and stuff, but the video end of things works quite well.
