I recently played a friends Explorer and loved the sound and feel of the guitar. So much so that I was thinkin of getting one.

My question is are the new models hollowed out like new Les Pauls and would it be worth my while looking for older models or have these changed in the way they were manufactured at all since they were re-introduced?

    Thanks for your replies

They're solid. Don't think they've ever been hollow except for the monstrocity recently with the holes drilled through the front!
