Just on that note, I've bought the missus a Wii +Fit for crimbo. (Just posted there asking for advice on games)

Here's question. Does the Wii fit actually work?

As in, does it make you fit or lose weight or what?

The Wii fit alone will not help you to get fit / lose weight. You also have to have a good nutritious diet. After all, a good diet is key to losing weight.

So lay off the snacks while playing it. There's are some good success stories with Wii fit. Just google some :D

The fit bord does'nt have many games that use the board, however if you want a workout for all, get sonic and mario at the olympics.

Regarding the wii fit "making you lose weight" - it won't. At least, it won't do it by itself. Losing weight will happen when your total calorie usage exceeds your total calorie intake, and it'll only be sustainable if you change your lifestyle so that you end up with a roughly balanced calorific intake: calorific usage ratio.

Having said that, myself and the other half picked it up about six months ago and have found a very useful tool to help adjust your lifestyle. Getting into the habit of tracking your weight on a daily basis helps a lot, as does paying attention to your general balance and flexibility. Wii fit plus has a calories-burned tracking function which can also help. You could get the same results with a fitness dvd, some graph paper and a pencil, and a commitment to changing your diet.

As for games that use it - wii fit & wii fit plus both have some really fun balance type games in them, and there's also Shaun White Snowboarding. I also found a game called Equilibrio on Wiiware that's good fun.

    Raving Rabbits TV Party

Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics

    We SKI

Wii Music uses it as bass drum pedals

Link here has a list of games, but I think a couple of them on the list don't have balance board functionality (didn't think EA Sports Active did, but might be wrong) so would definitely double check rather than relying on this list (plus a large of percentage on this list are a. US only, b. crap c. both)

Shaun White Snowboarding and SWS: World Stage (just released) both use the Wii balance board.
