Does anyone know of a decent place to stop off on this route from experience. The LP isn´t too keen on any towns in between...

i did that route a year ago and i didnt stop anywhere in between.we were told by other travellers that it wasnt worth stopping due cos there wasnt much to do.the bus from iguazu to ba is 24h but the standard of buses is brilliant.if you have time to kill head into paraguay for awhile from iguazu.

I stopped off in Santa Fe and Parana. I was meeting people i knew there and had a good time. But i'd only bother if i had time to play around with and/or just wanted to see some nice towns/cities. You'd pretty much see the same thing if you hit the other big ones such as Córdoba, Rosario, Salta, etc.

I stopped off at some random town halfway down and went into Uruguay for a few days - the ferry from Montevideo to BA is only about 2 hrs, so it's dead handy.

Yeah you can get the Buquebus ferry direct from Buenos Aires to Colonia in Uruguay too. Lovely spot.
