Changing Eircom Netopia NAT type

Just an FYI, for those with Eircom netopia routers.
I'm sure this has been covered before, but of all the port triggering/forwarding walk through's this one is the simplest I've come across and I'm now NAT type 1, which shows up as NAT Type = open in the CODMW2 lobby (i presume it affects all online gaming not just COD), gets my stats much faster, into games much quicker and there seems to be less lag.

They matchmaking is crap on MW2 with NAT3, massive waiting time to find a 100ms game, lots of lag and rarely does the host migration work.

    Yeah, it just doesnt work.

It does I followed it yesterday and it worked first time.
I selected wired instead of wireless, that was the only difference. Did you change the MTU to 1500? Also did you turn off Media sharing (for some reason a few of the talk through's make you turn it off), I did, and put it on again afterwards and its working fine.

I did all of that, many times, i just cant get this working properly. It is so annoying. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes to connect to the game. I know I could buy a new router, but i just cant understand why it works for some people and doesnt for other.
there is even special option to open ports for PSN in my router but that still doesnt change nat type.

I done it today with a netopia router and it worked first time, I have no clue about computers so just followed the instructions in the vid and got nat type 1 with nat type open in mw2 lobby.

ya it'll work for a while, then stop, ask everyone here, it'll drive you insane to get it back, but it wont
and you'll buy a new router, like the hundreds here !

Any thoughts on the new Zyxel router?

To get Nat Type 1 on eircom netopia go to network settings,
go custom settings click everything normally till you get to PPPOE
Click into that then set username as eircom@eircom.net and password as broudband1............finish as normal and test connection it works! None of that port forwarding.
