Painting old kitchen Doors

We had planned to buy a new kitchen but that wont be possible now. We are thinking of using Melamine & MDF paint to make it look different. Has anyone painted their kitchen doors? and was it successful. The paint we have says it does not need a primer (one Coat) but tbh the sample we tried on the back of one door was a bit iffy looking. Any advise would be appreciated before we possibly destroy the whole thing.

If you really want to use your existing doors try using a mohair 3" roller and a matt finish paint, matt finish hides imperfections. If you have a few quid get new mdf doors made and have them spray finished, spend a few bob on handles and you have a new kitchen.

I had planned to use the paint specially made for painting kitchen doors. Or is that just normal paint in a different tin?

dont know what paint it is you have it just depends on the finish you want - how smooth etc - Unless you are a good painter you will just get a "yea we painted the kitchen" finish. It depends on what you want. Get it sprayed and you have a factory finish. More confused?
