Getting married end of August next year so we are planning on going to the Maldives and Dubai.Wondering can anyone recommend a resort in the Maldives.I have been enquiring with travel agents and they all seem to recommend different islands. We are looking for a water bungalow and all inclusive.
Re Dubai,we will probably book a beach hotel.Has anyone any thoughts re here?:)

you will be in Dubai during Ramadan (approx 10 Aug to 10 september)

upside - should be great deals available on all beach hotels, lots of large hotels will have special iftar tents (large buffets with people breaking fast)

downside - it will be 45 degrees, very humid, all food and bev outlets outside of large hotels will be closed (and you won't be able to drink water, smoke etc outside during daylight) and there will be no nightclubs open and booze is served from 7 o'clock in the evening only

recommend Jumeirah Beach Hotel for something busier or one and only for something quieter if alone time is what your after

to be precise, ramadan expected to finish thursday 9th september, if you arrive in dubai after than then it will just be hot! however hotels will be quite busy that weekend

Dubai is too hot for the typical Irish temperament at that time of year, but you may be different.

Have to say, wouldn't be too adaptable to the heat but went at this time 2 years ago and loved it, sat on jumeirah beach all day and it was fine, water lovely and warm, you ca sit under the umbrellas and eat the ice creams that the beach staff dish out (depending on hotel)
we stayed at the mina a salam, amazing hotel with it's own souk and lots of restaurants - check out madinat jumeriah

    Hmmmmmmm.

I'd seriously think about changing destination regarding Dubai.
Looks like Dubai is bankrupt according to today financial markets.

We did the same trip for our honeymoon, really expensive, but had an amazing time. We went to http://www.kuramathi.com/bluelagoon/ Absolute paradise, the location, the weather, the food, the lifestyle, everything. We would go back in a heartbeat. The only negative was the flight duration, we went with Emirates and had to stopover in Dubai. It was 24 hours travelling to get there in the end.

For us, Dubai was a lot less attractive, it was/is still very much a building site.

It is also a centre of rampant consumerism, which sounds like fun until you read in the local papers (provided free to your room) about how tough the Indian labourers have it to create this spectacle. It made us very uneasy as they are everywhere.

I stayed at the Oneandonly Kanahura resort on honeymoon, great place to chill out, great food, danger of cabin fever if you are a active type, costs a few quid though but a beautiful place

never been too impressed with Dubai as a destination, but you can always stop over for day or two on the way back i guess.

Suggest you stock up on the duty free before arriving in the maldives, booze is bloody dear out there and buy your own snorkelling gear too.

Thanks for the views guys.As we are getting married end of August,it appears its hurricane season or monsoon season in alot of places.Thats why we kinda picked Dubai and Maldives.Has anyone other suggestions then?We would prefer not to go to America. We were in Africa this summer and did a Safari and Game drives so not interested in the same again next year!!!We want to go further than Europe also as its our honeymoon so would like to go somewhere we wont go to again.
