Three nearby buildings buildings have been evacuated.

Residents from the affected block are to be temporarily housed at local hotel. Over 20 people live in the block where roof came off.

    The incident happened at 8.30am.

According to eyewitness David Cooney, gardaí have a cordon across the entrance to the complex.

The buildings are being evacuated until they can all be assessed.

Mr Cooney says he did not see any debris around - just the roof 'clean off' the building.

He is also living in a top floor apartment in the complex and says his building felt 'pretty shaky' this morning.

serious stuff, must be pretty scary, not to mention annoying, for those that live there.

On a side note, a massive 20 people live in the block. Isn't that one of the large blocks of apartments that have something like 20 apartments in them?

Not suprised this happened at all. I live in a top floor apartment 5 storeys up and spent the night thinking I'd wake up with no roof. The howling of the wind was insane. So bad we couldn't sleep.

The poor buggers! Must have been scary.

Has to be down to poor construction. No reports of any similar incidents during the night

I noted that the Gardai were present. I hope that they launch a thorough investigation aganst the cowboy builders that have fleeced the city with flat pack apartments over the last decade. More than likely these fly by night developers have already gone bankrupt and will get away with it.
