Am looking for a rescue club to replace the 3 & 4 irons. What should I be looking for? 23 degree cobra was suggested, but I'd like some suggestions...

I'd like to keep it under €100 if possible too.

I have an Adams Idea A2 3 Hybrid. 20 degrees. Very easy to hit. Very forgiving.

I've kept my 4 Iron though.

Like I said I want to replace the 3 & 4, so am I better off with a 20 or 23 degree? I'll look up the Adams now.

Bought a 19deg cleveland hiboreXLs recently and is a gem, easy to hit and nice flight. Will definitely be looking at getting a more lofted one to replace the 5iron from the rough etc

Well from my point of view it's probably better to get a 3 hybrid, if you have a 4 iron distance grip down on it and take a bit off.

Technically a 4 iron is usually *24 and a 3 iron is *20. So perhaps a *22 degree is what your looking for.

I have the Taylor Made Burner 07 models.
    19 degree is numbered 3
    22 degree is numbered 4

The 22 degree one for me is marginally longer than my 3 iron though it would fly much higher to get there. On a calm summers day (the stuff of fairy-tales) I'd carry the 22 degree 210 yards (3 iron 200). However, into a wind the hybrids can vary dramatically... I can hit a decent 3 iron into the wind (on those times that I hit the 3 iron decently  ) but a well hit rescue might only go 150 yards into a strong wind!
Later in the year I took out the 22 degree model and put the 3 iron back in the bag so I have 3 wood - 19 degree hybrid - 3 iron - 4 iron etc.
In summer, the 3 iron comes out and the 22 degree will go back in. It's an easier club to hit and much more so from the rough.

The shafts and different heads may make some difference but I guess if you want to replace both the 3 and 4 iron with one hybrid then somewhere in the 22-25 degree territory is where you might start to look?

You should take a look at MD rescue clubs.I've got two of them that cost me 50 quid each (new) at the end of last year. They're a fantastic club which come with a Proforce 65 shaft as standard. If your looking to replace your 3 and 4 iron with one rescue club then a 23/24 degree one should do the job for you.

I saw these in Green 18, and was intrigued. They get fantastic reviews. Where can I get them now that G18 is closed down?

Licksy, pretty much the same story with me. I can Mizuno CLK 17deg and 20deg. Dropping the 20deg for my 3 iron come the winter.

    My 2c.

Space out the lofts a little bit more than you might expect.
Got the MD 24deg and 21deg of a few years ago (the one that looks more like a hybrid of a 'hybrid' and a fairwaywood than a fairwaywood and an iron if you know what I mean). 24 exactly replace my 4 iron. But carry distance of the 21 was too close to it. Got the 18deg. Replace my 3 iron perfectly. 3 or 4 irons are a thing of the past.
One way or another, go hybrid - low irons are only for posing now.

I'm really interested in the MD clubs, but I've contacted them & can't get a response as to where to get them. McGuirks & Halpenny don't have them & Green 18 is gone.

I've decided to get a Callaway Diabolo, to keep everything in the bag from one brand. I'm gonna go for the 21 degree as it seems it will be the most useful for me at this stage of my carreer ;)

I did twig that. Am more interested in going to a shop and seeing how the club feels before buying.

Got my 26degree hybrid the other day, Cobra Baffler TWS. Sweetest thing since slice bread! This replace my 5 iron. distance wise, it's there or about the 190yard mark that my 5 iron normally flies but the flight is much higher and drop softer on the green.

I'm liking all the Cobra stuff!!! Should i give myself a xmas present and get the cobra driver???:):):):)

Just bought one and absolutely love it. I now have the 909 driver, 3 wood and 21 rescue. 3 wood is by far the best I have ever used. Really love Titleist gear at the moment, might even consider a set of AP2s.

the old Taylor Made Mid rescues are a great club if you can find one second hand. I have a 3 which is 19 degrees and a 4 which is 22 degrees, easy to hit and go a mile

I don't think that any manufacturer will ever come up with a better rescue club than the Cleveland Halo. It does exactly what it says on the tin.
