I'll be away for this... pretty disgusted but I don't really rank pygmallion as much of a venue anyway.

Anyone unfamiliar with Carola should check out his FabricLive; absolutely fantastic.

I remember him playing a great set in TBMC back in 2004 - we were spoiled that year, pretty much every fortnight or 3 weeks there was a big name techno DJ playing in Dublin. Slam, Beyer, Liebing all played.

Shame it's not like that any more.

Pygmalion is a great venue in my opinion, didnt think a venue "like that" could cater for some decent music but the lads there know their **** in fairness....

Has anyone been in Pygmalion when its really busy? Thinking of heading to this gig, just wondering if it'll be overly uncomfortable on the night.

The line-up and atmosphere there is superb; the promoters are fantastic imo - its just way too small and bright in general to work. Small venues only work when they're sweatboxes undergound like Traffic/Twisted Pepper, and even saying that the main dancefloor inside there is like 20ftx30ft.

I think Tripod is the only real venue in Dublin - it's no Cocoon/Tresor/Berghain but its the perfect size; the only thing letting it down is the soundsystem in the main room.

Burn up in Stillorgan on Blakes corner (Formerly Bondi) apparently has a few promoters now attached to it, I heard Sebastien Leger was there a couple weeks back and that Lektroluv and some others are playing in the future.

(I'd love to see the newly renovated Palace on Camden Street host a night, its absolutely ****ing incredible inside with nice high ceilings and a monstrous capacity. Hell even Spirit/Academy would do, yet all I've seen there recently is Annie Mac et al.)

you're prob the first person ive ever heard saying the soundsystem in Tripod is bad.I think its fine. You can hear the music perfectly and have a conversation without shouting. Its never been something that I would have complained about.

I was only in the Palace a few weeks ago playing pool with some mates and we were talking about the same thing.Would be a great call if it happened.

Carola and Osuna is a fantastic booking. Both great djs/producers.Id prefer Carola more so.Place will be rammed yeah but what can ya do.Its not something 515 would do so props to the Pyg lads.I mean these kind of djs should be on in the Pod or Crawdaddy every Sat nite instead of that Download night.

Pyg guys get Paul Ritch over to play.Hes great and you'd get a really good crowd for it.

We're aware of the possibility of overcrowding so we've only put a limited amount of tickets on sale. Should be grand on the night, not everyone's gonna be on the dancefloor at the same time and there's usually loads of heads out smoking etc.

Be sure to check out Wolf + Lamb (NYC) on Dec 17th too. Support from JC & Fratboy Babe-Stealer. All for a mere €7 before 12/€10 after.

Check out their recent Variety Show Podcast here.

Oh its perfectly adequate, don't get me wrong - its just not on par with the Funktion rigs and the likes of Fabric/Cocoon/Berghain etc... I'm a serious snob about these things anyway

Again, a seriously nice yet esoteric booking - book Extrawelt in the New Year and I'll name my first born after you :D Great article about Wolf + Lamb in the current mixmag - here's a scan

I know what you mean now jim t.In comparison to the soundsystems you mentioned then you're right.Tripod is not in the same league.

I was over in Cocoon in Frankfurt and it was just incredible how good it sounded. The bass nearly blew your chest out, everything was so crystal clear and I didnt have to raise my voice once when we were talking.

    :D

On another note well done again with the Wolf+Lamb booking.I like what they're doing at the moment.

This we really like.We need more imaginative line ups like this in Dublin.

Never caught either of them playing here but have loads of mixes.Stephens Night sorted now.

Was there two years ago - the whole club is absolutely slick, from the little pods cut into the wall with ladders up to them, to the multi-platform dancefloor to the projections all along the floor of the corridors of a seascape that ripples when you walk through it; complete with little fish that run away from your feet. Pity Frankfurt is such a seedy ****hole asides from this.

Can you get tickets anywhere other than Tcikets.ie? Some people haven't got CC's to buy tickets online so if anyone knows of any shops that you can buy the tix with cash that'd be handy . . . cheers!
