EX-girlfriend read AND deleted text messages off my phone

    Hi all,

I just want to be sure. My ex-girlfriend took the phone she gave me a while ago arguing that she wanted it back. To avoid any feud in front of my little boy, I gave it to her. She took the sim card. But, as I left her place, I forgot to take it with me (I mean the SIM card).
She went through all my text messages and told me about it in the evening. I never gave her my consent to do so. She said she was happy to do it even though we are now over for 8 months now.
Today, as I got to her place to look after my son, she left my phone on the table so I could take it back.
The problem is that she deleted all my text messages. Every single one and this goes back to 2008 at least, so over 700 messages. All the evidence about her denying access to my son is also lost as a result of this action. All my texts with my friends and family or work are also gone.
My question is simple. Can I file a formal complaint to report this incident?
I no longer want to ask about why she did such a thing as I know this does not lead to anything constructive.
    Thanks
    M
