I'd like to see Ireland have test status, but am aware of the issues we face in attaining that goal. We need a pathway, a specific set of milestones to point us in our development to get to the test standard in all aspects. That's what Cricket Ireland are endeavouring to produce at the moment.

Sadly, I don't think Facebook's magic pixie-dust is going to assist here...

I would settle for ODI status.

    Which we already have.

    Actually we don't.

We have temporary ODI status. This was granted to us in 2005 when we qualified for the 2007 WC, and renewed in 2009 when we qualified for the 2011 WC. This only lasts until the end of that tournament.

Permanent ODI status would be a good half-way-house between Associate and Test (Full Member) Status.

It is unfortunate that your sarcasm has bounced back at you.

We have ODI status though, irrespective of wether it is temporary or permanent as neither of us stipulated.

It is unfortunate that your pedantry has bounced back at you.

I agree TrueDub. Cricket Ireland is looking to set the wheels in motion for the application process. It will take years for Ireland to be in a position to take the step. However they are going the right way about things, 6 full time 'A' contracts announced last week, 4 'B' grade announced and 5 'C' grade to be announced in the coming year.

While the facebook won't do much to influence the ICC, I find it a great resource to keep up to date on the Irish team.

Once they get test status, money will flow, they will get a hugh grant from ICC every year!
