Inheritance Tax query

    Hi,

I have a question regarding inheritance tax. An in-law of mine was approached by a former employee who needed to borrow some money to pay inheritance tax by it's due date.
This man is a non-national who has been living in Ireland for two years and the deceased is said to be his uncle who was living somewhere in Africa. He informed my in-law that if he fails to pay the inheritance tax by the due date then he would not be entitled to any of his inheritance. Is this possible?? I would imagine that you would only have to pay interest on the outstanding amount if you were late with the payment.
Does this sound like a scam?
