I think you need to adjust your sarcasm detector:D

It sucks donkey balls alright though! Was wondering how they even got away with it till i found out we were never off that week, technically, it was always a "study" week:rolleyes:

Heard, though, that there will be mo exams that week so it should be a nice easy week into xmas:)

In seriousness, I do feel sorry for the International students who had flights booked for that week. Thankfully the University has taken that into consideration though.

Surely, it would have been easier to lamp on the extra week at the start of April next year or whatever, by then we'd have forgotten that it was an extra week anyway!

Was really looking forward to the 11th though, would have given us a decent xmas holiday, now its pretty much the same as school!

Visit them in McDonalds in 10 years time, and tell them all about your successful education. All will be even.

You really dont like the place!:D

Are they really off on the 11th too? Though it was the always the 18th for them?

I just think it's funny how they keep going on about what a great place CIT is. I work with so many people who say "**** you, CIT is so much better!".

I've a mate who dropped out of UCC this year to do a different course in CIT, and he says it's like a prison.

So when given the chance, I like to make a joke at their expense. :P

Yes annoyed with the end of term. I was probably going to stay for an extra study week but with this week being a study week it's after messing with my plans. I wanted to use the second study week for some of my bigger essays. In summary it throws a spanner into my plans!

If your mate dropped out of a course in UCC only to start another course in a different college, I wouldn't really take his opinion seriously. He doesn't exactly sound like a model student. As well as that, you don't go to CIT, so maybe you shouldn't be so quick to judge and make jokes at their expense.

    So back on topic....

Fairly annoyed at the extra week but I suppose at the end of the day there's stuff that needs to be covered and it can't really be helped. It's an awful dose for people who had already made travel arrangements though...and for people who've been flooded out of their apartments - it's just an extra week that they'll have to try and find temporary accommodation.

Such an awful thing to be put upon us alright....Meanwhile some people have thousands of euro worth of flood damage to contend with. ;)

And millions of people in Africa don't know if they're gonna have anything to eat for the next week. :(

We live in an awful, awful world.

It would have been nice to have two straight weeks off before Christmas.

But that's life. You just have to take it and move on. :D

It doesn't bother me either way as I am off until January 18th. 3rd Year exams before work placement ftw! :D

Two weeks for christmas is pretty bad. Especially since I live with two C.I.T students! Getting up for early classes while theyre lolling about is not going to be fun.

I had to laugh when someone ( I don't remember the name) said the guy who dropped out of UCC to start again in C.I.T "is not a model student" and that he "should not be taken seriously". You're a funny man!

This guy has the wisdom to see he doesnt want to continue in his course and moves to something more suitable, possibly pissing off his parents in the meantime.

Many people stay in the course they hate and moan about it all the way, but no, they should be taken more seriously, because they are smarter than the guy who changed colleges and took a better direction in his life.:pac:

I'd take 5 days in college over 1 day in work any time.

go back to drinking tea and feeling hard done by. ;)

 Why? It was a week off...

I dislike the extra week very much. It's an extra week in college, away from home. Also I miss out on two days work because of it. I needs money

I have heard a rumour that we have study week back now? At least second year med do anyway I think.

I have loads of essays due at the start of January, so it doesn't really matter, either way I'll be in UCC studying.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 222 ✭✭ALincoln

Right, yeah, but for people for whom this is actually an important matter; has that week been designated a reading week again?

Not officially, afaik, but maybe some lecturers are moving around their lectures between weeks so that they'll have less that week too.

I have three essays due, a presentation (possibly two) due last week of term. i hope to god its made a (semi)/reading week! :o

So far in 2 of my lectures this morning, the lecturers have said they have flights so the last week is cancelled for those lectures. That's 2 out of 2, I'm hoping this trend will continue
