This might actually help people who are struggling because they lost there christmas bonus but I need some info on it.

Last year a guy I know didn't get a bonus so he went down complaining saying he couldn't get by the christmas and he was told that each year he can apply for clothing allowance which is about 200Euro.

Could anyone give me some details on this please.

    Thanks

    never heard of it before.
have heard of the back to school clothing and footwear allowance for children age 2-18 runs from june until end of sept to help with the cost of sending children back to school but never heard of a clothing allowance around christmas?
Doesnt sound promising to be honest

I would say that is the exceptional needs payment, which is for just that "an exceptional need". I can assure you that no CWO, especially in this economic climate would be handing this payment out every year to the same person.
The citizens info site states the following:

An Exceptional Needs Payment is a single payment to help meet essential, once-off, exceptional expenditure, which a person could not reasonably be expected to meet out of their weekly income. For example, the payments can be for special clothing for a person who has a serious illness, bedding or cooking utensils for someone setting up a home for the first time, visiting relatives in hospital or prison, or funeral costs.

No offence intended but we have known for a long time that we were not getting a bonus for xmas, it wasnt like it was announced a week before xmas, the payment in question is, as stated for exceptional needs, some people may actually have to rely on this due to the recent floods, or due to a serious illness that has led to hardship. I know xmas is coming and money isnt all that plentiful but i think only people who really are in dire need of financial assistance should apply for these sort of payment.

ye the christmas bonus was nice but I think it was fair for them to take it away, everyone got plenty of notice so could start saving up a little extra this year.
Im worried that welfare will be hit too hard this budget, Ive already had a drop in rent allowance this year.

Also, I dont think most people will be expected to spend that much this Christmas anyway
