Con-rods for Passat - Help needed

    Hey

My sister was driving through a bit of a flood on the road the other day, and didn't notice a hidden dip. Now the engine is f*cked. I don't know a lot about cars so I can't explain what happened, but my father and brother-in-law (both mechanics) have been trying to sort it out.

My father has asked me to look for con-rods for the Passat. Its an ABV engine. He says they don't have to be genuine VW parts. I was wondering if anyone could help. Would dealer websites be the best bet or something else?

    Cheers all

The Conrods would be the cheap part, itting them would be expensive.

If the block is the same as an earlier model it may be cheaper to pick up an old block and get the rods out of it or else replace the block altogether for a short block.
