Apologies for starting a new thread.

Can God talk to humans in a normal 2 way conversation, in the same way as you would talk to your wife or friends or co-workers?

How would you feel if one of the above was absolutely convinced they were talking directly to god regulary, and they could hear an audible voice in their head. Would you be concerned that it's an illness or would you be happy that it was god talking.

The Bble instructs us to test all messages against the word of God.

If someone says that, "God told me to kill that person", then no not from God as it doesn't pass the test.

If a Christian came to me and said God told me that you should do ?????? and it was consistent with what was going on in my life and was consisitent with the word of God, then yes, I would believe them, This happened last night in fact, although the person did not claim that she heard an audible voice, just that she heard from God that I would ??????.

It was quite an encouragement for the struggle that I am currently facing.
to answer your question: yes God can and does audibly speak to people. The message has to be tested against the word of God and each incident taken on it's own value.

At very least He did so for three decades some 2000 years ago.

Er so basically if God says something that is common sense you could work out on your own, yes. If he says something odd, no.

How do you know? Maybe he does want you to kill someone. And is getting pretty pissed off that you keep ignoring him.

err, no, basically God is our friend and can indicate something that may not necessarily be common sense or something that I miss and am not working out on my own.

I speak with the technical director of our soccer club, he comes out and watches our team and sees something that I am missing and advises me on what steps to take. As may my assisitant coach, that is why we have advisors and helpers and friends.

I have now recieved advice from God through a friend that makes sense and is an encouragement for me to take a path that was making me quite nervous.

No, God owuldn't ask me to break one of His commandments. If my friend got a message from someone instructing them that I had told them to go out and cheer heartily for Chelsea this weekend, that friend would know the message did not come from me.

I would consider it an illness. Infact, I have two cousins who "talk" to god and I stay well clear of them. Absolutely scary people.
Anyone who hears god talking to them should go see a doctor straight away.
It could be a serious problem.

Rather than wasting my time handing out yellow cards and deleting posts I'm just locking the thread. Patmartino, this forum exists for the discussion of Christian beliefs, not for attacking or belittling those beliefs. Please take note of that fact which, if heeded, could increase your longevity in this Forum.
