The Nevada Bobs shop in ballincollig in Cork is good. Would be one of the cheapest for clubs as i was ringing around recently and they beat all the local shops.

Was over there yesterday. I was very disappointed with it. There was only a very small selection of clubs, clothing, hardly any bags shoes etc... Unless they are due loads more stock in I can't see it doing too well. I'll continue to go to American golf or McGuirks in Blanchardstown

hopefully the one in castlebar will be a success. someone needs to put cunninghams in galway under some pressure. he pretty much has connaught all to himsefl and can charge what he likes . although sayin that he is quite cheap so ill just shut up now :)

Pushy is putting it mildly- enough to put you off golf forever

+1, they are very pushy and intrusive. I had to walk out of the place empty handed...

What were you there to buy? was it the same guy?

I went in to buy a box of balls and an under layer - also to have a look at a club. As I approached the balls, the baldy headed guy asked id I needed help, I said no thanks just looking. Picked up a box to read it & he says in his most conversional manner that they are a real bargain. I told him again that I was just browsing and put down the balls to get away, so I went to find the cloths & when I found what o was looking for he was there telling me what good value the top was, I didn't want to pick out sizes with someone hanging over my shoulder, so I went to look for a rescue club, on the way I saw the driver I use on special offer, I took it out of the bag to have a look at the price and spec, next moment he had the club in his hand telling me how great it was... then I left with a real negative attitude, won't be going back. On the way home I dropped into McGuirks & bought a box of balls, an under armour polo neck and I chose a new club which Santa picked up for me there. The staff left me alone, but were very helpful when I enquired about sizes.

I hope Nevada Bobs has a read of this thread, before the alienate all their potential customers...

    Pain in the *
Its one of those stores you just cant browse in comfort without being hassled. Which part of im just browsing do they not understand.
I like to look and ask for help when ready.
Agree that McGuirks are helpful and not at all pushy. American Golf in Dundrum were also ok, leave you alone to Browse.

I was just browsing through their (limited selection of) wedges and the American guy started telling me all about driver shafts and stories about different brands for at least 15 minutes! Very intrusive, i'm sure he was just trying to be helpful or maybe bored but I'd feel uncomfortable going back there again even for a look

And I thought it was only me, He previously operated in a Golf shop in Santry which now appears to have closed down.

George yellington is his name as far as i can remember .. Worked in Premier golf in santry .. Pushy is an understatment when he sniffs a sale .. I was over in Premier golf (when it was open ) one day and he was in my face from the off , I told him i was off to florida the following week and was only in on a fact finding mission , In fairness to the chap he backed right off still offered good advice when asked .

must be something up with me - i was in there on the bank holiday weekend looking at golf carts (Deal on for €175 as far as i remember) and nobody came near me. :)

Small enough selection alright but i didn't look at too much as it was the trolley i was after. Staff downstairs were very friendly.

    Hi all,
Since my previous comment I was PM'd by one of the staff in the shop saying they appreciated my comments and would take them on board. I have been in since & have found the situation very different. I'd be happy to shop there now.
