I am trying to find a fantasy film I seen in the early 80's. All I can remember is a scene where the hero is encouraged to throw his weapons up into the sky, and he carries on with his travels and then a year later the weapons fall back down again and knock his enemies out. I think it was set in some fictional european…

I am trying to find a fantasy film I seen in the early 80's. All I can remember is a scene where the hero is encouraged to throw his weapons up into the sky, and he carries on with his travels and then a year later the weapons fall back down again and knock his enemies out. I think it was set in some fictional european land in pre-industrial times and the story is basically a legend quest. It has been stuck in my memory for years and I have no idea what it is. Any ideas?
