    Hi,

Just wanted to see if i'm on the right line here

I was charged for not displaying my insurance disc on the car. I had insurance just didn't have the disc displayed. The Guard asked me to produce the disc at the station in next 10 days and I was fined 60 euroes as a fixed charged offence.

I couldn't find the old disc in the car(must have lost it as the disc pockets were doggy..yes,still my fault) so requested a new one from the insurance company and showed at the Gardai station with in the stipulated 10 days period( 8 days to be exact).

Now I have got summons from DPP for not producing the insurance details with in the said 10 days. I went upto the Guadai station and checked if the details i have shown were recorded. they infact did and gardai at the counter commented that it might be due to a 'computer glitch'. I have got from a statement(DLIP productoin number) from the local station that i have infact submitted, stating the date of submission.

My thinking is that it is defenitely some thing wrong in their system which did not recognise the submission of the insurance details.

Need some guidence on the following

    What should I do now?
From the facts I have, the error seem to be on their side. so trying to see if I sould get a solicitor? If I do, will the expenses incurred by me(lost wages for going day, solictor charges etc), will they be bourne by them if proven that they were at fault initially? or am i just going over board with all this!

    Thanks in advance,
    Vis

Talk to a solicitor and show the prosecuting Garda that you did produce and that you have insurance and are currently display ing a disc.

They still have you for not displaying.

No, they generally do not pay.

Thanks Victor. yes,I am at fault for displaying the disc, but the penalty has been paid for that and I have also submitted the valid documents to back my claim of having a valid insurance. I'm trying if any one else has been in this situation and what was the outcome.

    thanks,
