HELP - Compaq cannot see USB devices

    I'm having trouble with my presario F700. I can still use a USB mouse and an externally powered harddrive. The CD/DVD drive is not working at all, I cant see it in BIOs or device manager. and when i go to synch my phone it doesnt appear in my computer, the s/w says its already in use. the phone is visable in device manager however. a bit of a funny one, i was thinkin, maybe its a power problem. i dunno. or maybe a physical fault. I really need the DVD drive for work too. does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

    any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
