So why isn't anyone in DCU striking? I have my least favourite class today . . .

    Then don't go....?

DCU voted against striking as a majority, so nobody is striking. Personally I'm glad because I generally go to lectures. I can't understand peoples mentality for wanting a strike "Oh yeah! No lectures!". You can just not go to lectures regardless of whether or not people are striking (unless you're in nursing, lal).

They don't t=make then swipe in anymore as far as I know.

Agree with your post anyway, if you don't want to go, don't. It's not school, be a waster if you want/can get away with it

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Attendence monitoring in the form of swiping for lectures is gone for us nursing folk, class numbers have nose dived as a result, no bad thing if you ask me

My lab on wed was postponed because they reckoned ppl wouldn't be able to make it in on tuesday for the other ppl's lab. didn't make much sense but i didn't mind.

As there is another strike on the way does this mean that staff will vote again or does the original ballot remain valid?

No, no new ballot required, the ballot was for industrial action as a whole not just the last day of action on the 24th, ah well another day off for moi, cant complain

Yeah but then you don't feel guilty about not going if they're cancelled anyway!
