I am trying to buy an electric razor on amazon's uk website but get a message saying that it cannot be shipped to the selected address. I have been on to them a number of times and they say they are working on it but it's been a week now.

    Anybody have similar problems??

AFAIK Amazon, along with some other sites, don't ship electrical items to Ireland.

My understanding is that they lifted this restriction a few months ago.

Is it actually Amazon, or are you buying from a 3rd party on Amazon?

I bought a Wii and several extras on Amazon - was delivered 2 weeks ago and as far as I know, it's an electrical item...

I got a reply from Amazon stating the following:

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting us again at Amazon.co.uk with your concern regarding the "Braun Series 5 590cc Clean & Renew System Electric Rechargeable Foil Shaver".

I am sorry to know that you were unable to complete your order for this item to be delivered to Ireland address.

We received a reply from concerned department stating that we are unable to dispatch items containing HAZMAT properties outside of the mainland UK. This is due to a ruling that was introduced by the EU last year regarding items that contain flammable, pressurised, corrosive, environmentally hazardous or otherwise harmful substances classified as dangerous goods under the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road.

This item is now classed as HAZMAT and cannot be transported by Air unless the carrier has a specialised Hazmat licence. At the moment we do not have a carrier that is licenced to transport these types of products.

I don't know what hazardous materials are in an electric razor but there you go.
