Found out that my new boyfriend has a very interesting past. I have had only one real relationship that lasted 6 months but loads of flings, Im 25 but this guy Im seeing has a 9 year old child from a previous relationship and another 3 year relationship after that. I cant help feeling insecure about it, I know everyone has a past but Im afraid to get too close to this guy in case he does a legger and is back with one of his exes. Since I heard about his son, it has made me very unsettled and I dunno how to cop on. We have been seeing each other 3 months.

Who doesn't have an ex or exes? If you found out he had no exes at all and you were the very first woman he has ever dated or gone out with then you'd probaby find that weird too.

As for having a child- well it certainly adds another dimension but I don't think you should judge him or run away simply because he has a child. But if you do stick around you have to accept that the mother of the child will (in most cases) always be some part of his life. The child will always connect them. That said, I think most people try very hard in the beginning to make a relationship work because they have a baby together. If the kid is nine now and the parents are not together I wouldn't waste my time feeling insecure that he'll get back with the kid's mother unless of course it's obvious there's something going on with them.

Agree with this. If it was a case where they seperated 9 months ago then fair enough but 9 years and a 3 year relationship after that means that he isn't looking to get back with his ex's at all. I think it's safe to assume that the chap has moved on completely :)
