    Hi Folks

Have a three and a half year old laptop which I'm pretty sure is fecked.

Whe I turn it on I don't get the BIOS, all I get is a screen similar to the attched picture, moreso at the bottom, thats it. Now I thought this is the screen borked (which I think it is) However I have a tv with a vga connection and this also doesn't work. I have tried other laptops on it and they worked.

Any ideas on the latter part of that?

Basically I am just going to toake the data off anyway.

    Thanks.

I have the same problem as of 1 hour ago on my ACER. How r u going to take the data off if you cant see what your doing on screen? (I know there is a way to do this without using the screen - but I don't know it).

Also how did you connect another laptop to it??

Im wondering if the screen is replacable.....

Yeah, screens are replaceable. Find a repair shop and get a quote. It's cheaper than you think.

I connected my TV to it using a VGA cable which would normally work. If I can't see it I will be taking the drive out and loading it in another laptop and then using a bootable Linux live disk and retrieving it that way.

@ kikel. With a three and a half year old laptop I don't think it's going to be repaird . Not with current prices for standard machines
