There is a number of differnent options, I would avoid around the opera house though, usually this is jammed packed by 3pm and booze free

last year I went to rushcutter bay and had a fantastic view of the entire harbour, was excellent views and atmosphere, BYO beer and had a number of toilets .. yada yada

is there anything in perticular you want to do? Pub? or hang with friends in a park?

Anyone else truly shocked at just how many DJs etc this great oul city has got booked for nye compared to home? Or how their Paddys Day pisses all over ours?

Rave on in Luna Park but its pretty heavy money. Would be some view from there though.

Same way Australia Day is better in London :) Its always better when you are away from home celebrating your actual home.
Plus there are probably more of you there than back home anyway.
