You're probably not alone in thinking its a shame, but personally I won't miss him at all.

I think F1 is losing one of its most talented drivers. Perhaps it won't be as keenly felt as it would have been four or five years ago, when Schumacher had precious little competition (remember when Montoya was the great hope to challenge his domination?) in terms of talent behind the wheel. Now, we have Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel, all drivers with exceptional ability.

Nonetheless, Kimi will be missed. When he was bothered, he put in some outstanding performances. He's turning to rallying, at least for the moment, and I think more for a bit of fun than anything else.

And don't be fooled by his coma-inducing press conferences, the guy is known in the paddock for having a great sense of humour. An example of this occurred at the Brazilian GP of 2006. Pele made a presentation to Schumacher, due to the fact that it was his last GP. Immediately afterwards, Martin Brundle was doing his pre-race walk along the starting grid, where he met Kimi, who had just emerged from his team garage, having ignored the presentation.

Brundle: I noticed you weren't bothered with seeing Pele's presentation?
    Kimi: I was having a ****.

    Legend.

I think its a bigger shame that Kimi lost interest after he won his title.

Always admired him, even when he was with the grey team, but have to say he's not the brilliant driver he used to be. (Don't attack me Vectra!)

I saw an interview with him sitting in his rally car and have never seen him so relaxed. It was like listening to a different person. At this stage he needs to move on from F1 and face a new challenge.

I had never seen this clip but now that was hilarious!!
Will miss Kimi next year I always shouted for the underdog and of course had a sneaky little bet on him to win the 2007 championship with 4 races left.

suppose you could say its a balls e move, why not if your bit bored of F1 and no good drive on the cards have a try at F1,i blame button for not staying with his team,i hope he gets his ass kicked next year by lewis, i m not saying button is not a good driver, i just to think he really is top class compared to the top 3 or 4 in f1

Tbh i donk tink it had anything to do with button, mclaren didnt tink kimi was worth more than £6 mil and it wasnt worth his while driving for less than £8. end of storey button got the seat. I for one am glad we wont hav to look at him nxt season because he has made it pretty clear the last 2yrs he has zero intrest in the sport. I think the rallying will work out for him because he seems pretty good at it, besides his a finn their born to rally:)

Kimi Raikkonen is close to finalising his switch from formula one to a full time ride in the 2010 World Rally Championship. The series' official website wrc.com said the 30-year-old Finn "is understood to be ready to sign a deal" with Citroen to contest "all 13 rounds" of next year's calendar with Red Bull funding. The report cited a source close to the former Ferrari driver as confirming that an official announcement is expected in the coming days after "small details" are tied up.

    On his day, Untouchable....

think your a bit wide of the mark there with the untouchable slant for starters the citroen jnr team dont have the same spec cars as the works boys,it id be more closer to battling with the stobart boys to best of the rest over the ford and citroen works boys, all do he should be mixing with the works fords on tarmac

i cant see him coming back into F1, top teams might not want him, and i cant seem him going to some new team to try help them climb the ladder with his experience, i think it would of been so interesting to have him in maclaren against lewis, see how they d stack up
