I currently have a Philips DVDR3480 which is from 2007 and it works fine except for one very big problem everysingle thing it records is in 4:3 even though it is getting the 16:9 signal from the Sky+ HD box, this is really annoying when I rename the .vob to .mpg file for archiving on the PC. It wrecks really good stuff I record from Sky as the characters are Tall and lanky etc.

Can anyone recommend a DVD recorder that actually records in 16:9 Widescreen, I have tried every setting in my recorded including changing the format using IFOEdit and the raw .vob file still remains at 4:3.

I am sick of the recorder and want to buy new as a result.

Also anyone on the market that accepts HDMI input yet?
