Ordered a Dell,But Dont think i'll be home to collect it.

Hey guys, title is self explanatory but any how,

I ordered a dell last week and they first said it'll be due at the 30th which is fine,but now just checked the dell order and it's shipped and should be due any day now. i'm in college the rest of the week and nobody will be home to collect it.

Has anybody had similar stories or know what happens when they arrive and nobody is at the house.

IIRC its DPD that do their deliveries here. http://www.goldenpages.ie/Courier_Service/DPD_Dublin_North/IE_31403182_9999_1001

You may be able to suggest a timeframe or request delivery to an alternative address. If you miss twice/three times you'll have to collect from their depot or it'll be sent back at your expense.

i think your right , though it's been a while since i ordered a dell and it says in the order status that carrier is 'INT'

Ring the up and talk to them (the courier), your order number is your tracker number. You wont be able to change the delivery address without having to go back to Dell for authorisation, you can change when they deliver to you though or you can arrange to pick it up from the local depot at whatever time suits you best.

Only if you change the delivery address with Dell and they tell the courier. I got one delivered last week and they wouldn't let me change the delivery address to a friends workplace even though it was just down the road from the depot. They let the friend collect it from the depot though, no problem. Alternatively, if theres someone, anyone, in the house at the delivery time, neighbour or whatever, they'll let them sign for it and take it.

I'd say you'll be grand. When I got my dell delivered after repairs the courier gave it to my neighbour who was cycling down the road on her bike. I was only lucky she actually knew who we were and wasn't just some chancer.

i'll give them a call in the morning. it only changed to shipping status this morning , so it prob won't be arriving till Thursday/Friday

i'm just being paranoid they'll leave it at the front door ha :eek::rolleyes:
