Chicken breed and gender help needed

Hi all, Looking for help with the above. Two poor quality pics attached, but sufficient I hope for someone to tell me the breed and gender of this chicken I was just given. Its only young and was neglected, so brought him(?) into my coop. I was thinking some kind of sussex breed and it being a roo. Any thoughts?

Hi all,
