Fingers crossed this is more life the original than any of the 3 subsequent sequels.

I'd watch this just to see Van-Damme fight Dolph again. He was an idiot for not taking up the role in The Expendables.

The sequels were truly horrbile pieces of film.

Haven't seen the original in aaaaaaaaaages. I've completely forgotten it.

Looks like it could be worth a watch. Just even as a throw back to the original.

Unlikely I know, but is there any chance of a cinema release here?

    Loved the original.

    - Say good night, asshole.
    - Good night, asshole.

It has a 5.5 rating on imdb.com - madness I tell ya, its at least an 8

Nice to see Dolph and Jean-Claude back in action together. This could be interesting.

It's got a very Demolition Man vibe to it doesn't it? In fact, some might say it's a rip off! :pac: :P

Still, surely Universal Soldier meets Demolition Man can only be epic?

Demolition Soldier? Sounds like a winner to me!

Just watched this. It's not as good as the original but then again it is very different. This has more of an independent/low budget style feel to it rather than it's shiny and more polished counterpart. It starts off fast and then luls a bit in the middle with the introduction of the past main characters. Who you may be disappointed to find don't have overly too much screen time. Especially Lundrun. Overall a decent enough action film with some good fights scenes. Worth a watch even if only because you liked the first one. If you haven't seen or didn't like the original you'll probably just see this as another low budget B movie.

Classic action movies always get **** ratings on IMDB. The age group on there would rather give The Matrix 10/10. I prefer my dumb action movies to just accept that they're dumb, instead of pretending they're something more.

It is, I saw it on the shelf in Tesco and was so tempted, so very very tempted to buy it, think I will wait for it to drop in price though

How can anyone still have any faith left in this franchise, or in Jean-Claude Van Damme to believe this could be anything other than cheesy fail.

    Its a total reboot tbh.

Very low budget and not a bad movie at all.

It's a decent film, I was kind of hoping though that Dolph and Van Damme would team up to fight the NGU!

Watched it last night. Universal Soldier: The Return was dismal, and Universal Soldier II and III are so beyond even that, words can't quite portray their sheer worthlessness.

But this was actually a really good movie. Sure it was fairly low budget, but it kept within its budget perfectly, which is where most movies fail - Hollywood scripts executed with meager resources. The fight scenes are cool, brutal, believable and well choreographed. There's one scene in particular where Van Damne is wading through hordes of bad guys in a single take that is absolutely fantastic - but the whole thing overall is done about as well as could be expected.

What I find funny is that the DVD box design is the worst part about the whole movie. It's woeful. It looks like what you might expect of a $500 independent movie. The film itself - almost as good as the original, despite being very different. I would say worthy of a solid 8/10, vastly exceeded even my most hopeful expectations.

I have to say enjoyed this. It was a good no brainer and granted
the main characters dont get alot of screen time
there were excellent moments and battles you will remember. Some really nice action scenes.

    An enjoyable watch.
