    Hi Guys,

Trying to get broadband to a house that is down in a dip/hollow and without a phoneline in Wexford.

There is broadband in a friends house near by, is there an inexpensive way to setup a little network and get the signal to a house 200 yards away?

    Many Thanks,
    W

Hi, Is there line of sight between the two houses?

Also do you own the land between the two houses?

If there's near LOS or LOS you can. Ubiquiti Nanostation 2
    Available here or here.

What do those stations do? They connect do the wireless network of one of the houses and transmit across the field to the other?

Do they need to go up on a roof or anything?

A cheaper option might be a cantenna...

The Nanos can act as Access Points or Stations. They don't have to be outside if the signal is strong enough so you could put then in an attic or they can be window mounted. The Nanostation Loco would do for that distance.

You need two directional antenne (13dbi+ should be fine if near line of sight if there is no one in between you could go stronger), LMR-400 (antenna) cable (make sure to get them pre made off with the right gender connection on each end) and two linksys wrt54gl routers (with DD-WRT firmware installed). Total will come to about 200-250 euro.

That's more expensive and alot more hassel. The Ubiquiti gear would be around €130 and they're weatherproof if needed to be outside.
