both good value bikes,i think id go for the Boardman because of better components, such as Reba forks and xo rear mech

I agree with pajosjunkbox on this, both look good.

I plan on getting a new hardtail in the new year and I've been driving myself mad looking at all the reviews on-line and buying the mags etc. From what I have read I don't think you could go too far wrong with your €1,000.

I personally could not get the 2009 Focus as there is only size Medium left and I would need a small. Also I have tried to find a Borman pro to have a look at in a couple of the Halfords branches and none seem to have them. (These were the shops with the Borman bikes).

Boardman bikes seem to get very good reviews in the British press. Partly due to the ubiquity of Halfords, I gueess, but you probably can't go wrong with them

Any other opinions welcome. Also if you have an alternative to these two bikes please feel free to convince me. My budget is around 1200 yo yos. I'm going to get it through the bike to work scheme.

    Cheers :D

I have a boardman team MBK. Its the next one down from the one you are looking at.
Its is an amazing bike for the money, great specs and very light. The one you are looking at has even better specs and looks a great buy.
My friend has a giant xtc 1 and he said the boardman is better and lighter.

Also i have to say halfords were not as bad to deal with as alot of people lead me to believe. Maybe i was one of the lucky ones tho.
