Need to get teeth cleaned but afraid some teeth will fall out

    Ok,

I know this is very irrational and a visit to the dentist is in order. I last visited the dentist about 5 years ago and had my teeth cleaned. My bottom front teeth have a large build up of tartar and I'm afraid if the tartar is cleaned away that my teeth will become loose and fall out.

I suppose I'm just looking for some reassurance that this won't happen. If it does what options have I got? As I don't want to have a large unsightly gap in my smile.

It wont happen, the tartar is made up of millions and billions of bacteria and if not removed your teeth WILL fall out eventually. You may have gaps between your teeth after the tartar is removed but this is a million times better than leaving the tartar there.

    Good luck

I just had mine done with ultrasonics and mechanical scraping. Gums & teeth were not in good shape. A week later huge improvement and no more bleeding in the gums.

Thanks folks for taking the time to reply. I suppose it's just an irrational fear of going to the dentist but I've sourced a good dentist who is very good at putting patients at ease.

Anyway, here goes. I'll just go and get it over with.
