this might be a stupid question...

is it possible to get broadband over a satellite dish? my folks live in co wicklow, and have no landline. they're in a bit of a valley, so i don't think that wirelessy things would work. (haven't tried, admittedly).

they have a satellite dish, and i'm sure i read about getting broadband over one... did i just imagine that, or is it possible in ireland?

    thanks

    gar

Yes it is possible but I would think that the existing satellite dish your parents have would be no good (too narrow a beam??) so I guess they would end up with a second dish installed

Companies such as Digiweb and Satallite Broadband Ireland provide it although their install costs are ridiculously expensive and have low bandwidth allowances.

Check out if their area is covered under NBS, if their area is covered there are a few different options if they are in a valley where dongles won't work they may qualify for satelite at alot less than they pay the current satelite companies
